Day 1: Michael Bublé

My grandfather was really my best friend growing up. He was the one who opened me up to a whole world of music that seemed to have been passed over by my generation. Although I like rock & roll and modern music, the first time my grand dad played me the Mills Brothers, something magical happened. The lyrics were so romantic, so real… the way a song should be for me. It was like seeing my future flash before me. I wanted to be a singer and I knew that this was the music that I wanted to sing.

It’s the first day of our week-spanning series of fabulous Canadian musicians, where I’ll be featuring my all-time favorite songs from those amazing artists and song-writers. In total I have 7 artists coming up, and today I’m starting with someone I already featured previously: Michael Bublé (pronounced "Boo-blay").

To give you a little idea of who Michael Bublé’ is, his smash hit song "Home" was the most-heard song on Canadian radio in 2005. In 2006, he won 4 Juno Awards for "Best Singer," "Best Album" for It’s Time, "Best Artist," and "Best Pop Album of the Year" for It’s Time as well.

Today’s song is the first single from his latest 2007 album Call Me Irresponsible. Titled Everything. Like I stated previously, the best thing about Michael Bublé that makes you fall in love with his songs is his baritone voice that delivers such depth and texture to the song.

May 2007 is witnessing a lot of album releases from great bands and signers. I told you that Linkin Park is releasing their third studio album, Minutes to Midnight, this month.

Today, Michael Bublé is the star of our post. Michael is a critically acclaimed Grammy-nominated, multiple Juno Award-winning Canadian crooner, big band singer and actor. I first came to know him through his award-winning hit single Home (download), which I immediately fell in love with. What sets Michale apart, in my opinion, is his tremendously deep baritone voice which I can only compare to that of Josh Groban's!

Lost is a song in his new album released 1st of May 2007 called: Call Me Irresponsible. Now let's be honest: I went ahead and narrowed the album down to 4 exceptional songs, of which I picked only Lost to feature on my blog because, first of all, I love that show. More importantly, this song is simply indescribable! I've been listening to this one for the past two hours non-stop and I memorized it by heart. It's a great love song with heart-melting melody. Michael really shows off the depth of his voice and his gift of singing in this one. So go ahead and listen to it. I'm sure you won't be disappointed!
