Usability & Accessibility

usable useful desirable accessible credible findable valuableI am a firm believer that for a system to be successful, it has to be usable. This is why I place a particular emphasis on ensuring that all of the solutions I design are carefully evaluated both for meeting their business requirements and meeting best-practices for usability.

It’s not just an aspirational thing, however; it’s the law. As designers, we must strive to make a designs accessible to everyone. That means that we have to think in terms of universal access to users who may be partially sighted or making use of assistive devices.

When I work with my clients, I bring with me a solid experience in creating usable and accessible systems. I know the pitfalls to avoid, and I know the best practice to use when designing for an external internet site, an intranet site or a Windows application.

I’m also ready to perform Usability & Accessibility Audits on your website or software system, which involves assessing it against a number of key benchmarks. At the end of this process, I will deliver a comprehensive report which identifies any failings and provides suggestions for improvement. The importance of having impartial, experienced eyes give an objective report on an existing or proposed system cannot be stressed highly enough.
